THE OHIO PLAYERS-FIRE

The Ohio Players - Fire - My Beat Club
The Ohio Players – Daytona’s finest and one of the most top funk bands of the 70s. Although the group started in the late 50s – as The Ohio Untouchables – the fame and success appeared as the Players turned to the Mercury label in the mid 70s. But not only the Sly And The Family Stone-influenced, horn powered funk style and hits like “Fire” or “Love Rollercoaster” attracted the interest of the audience. The eye-popping album covers with their sexually provocative artwork are almost in the same manner legendary. “Fire” is the masterpiece of The Ohio Players. Stevie Wonder heard an early version of the song and classified it as a forthcoming big hit. In early 1975 “Fire” topped the US Billboard Hot 100 charts and stayed for a week at Number #1.
